About GSA Publications
Graduate student journals supported by GSA Publications are one of UCLA’s best-kept secrets and one of its most important assets in fostering new ways of thinking about scholarly communication. GSA’s publishing program, one of the largest of its kind in the country, has always supported less commercially viable and socially progressive scholarship and often under-supported forms of scholarly communication such as aggregation as well as traditionally defined areas of intellectual endeavor.
GSA Publications’ graduate student journals are ahead of the general scholarly curve in actively seeking out new ways to generate and disseminate knowledge by adopting new models, new methods, and new partnerships.

INDEPENDENT OPEN ACCESS AND ESCHOLARSHIP
GSA journals are making important strides in making their content freely available online according to the principles of Open Access independently and through the University of California’s eScholarship program. GSA Publications has been a leader in providing eScholarship content . Several journals have been accepted for listing the Directory of Open Access Journals.
The Right to Research
On October 3, 2010, the Student Advocates for Graduate Education (SAGE) coalition, of which UCLA is a founding member, unanimously approved a Resolution in Support of the Student Statement on the Right to Research.

PRINT-ON-DEMAND And EScholarship PLUS
GSA Publications and Carte Italiane pioneered a breakthrough arrangement to reduce wasteful printing and increase visibility by bringing the first journals to UC Press’ print-on-demand program. As a result of this popular program, GSA Publicationstitles were featured in the UC Press catalogue and are available for purchase from vendors such as Amazon (see Carte Italiane goes to Amazon) and Barnes & Noble.
In the fall of 2012, GSA Publications titles moved to eScholarship PLUS. Now tiles are available through Lulu.com as well as major distributors like Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
